Our medical clinic in Colombia is named in memory of our director's brother. Jinnela's brother, Jurgen, had the dream to become a doctor and help the people of his hometown, Corozal. Now, that dream is coming alive through his memory. Our main doctor, Xenia, along with other medically trained volunteers work together to evaluate the patients and provide them with the medications that they need. They also help those who need more advanced care to get an appointment with the closest health centers. During each clinic day, they normally treat over 150 patients.
The goal is to reach the more remote villages around Corozal, where healthcare is very difficult to obtain. Many of these villages have refugee families who are struggling to get by. In order to get to these villages, it usually means traveling for quite some time on some crazy dirt roads. But the team is always up for the challenge. During our clinics, we also have a prayer station for anyone who would like to be prayed for, as we believe that God is our ultimate Healer.
